Looking back at Monday, I couldn't help but be struck by one thing as Mary and I watched For Keeps. We kept on saying, "This is such a Lorelai movie." Like Lorelai Gilmore is a real person.
I could spend a lot of time researching and writing a long, clever essay about why it is that a character has become like a real person, but how much does that really matter? Really, how much would anyone read on a blog? I'm going to say that, for the intents and purposes of this blog, the answer to the why question doesn't really matter. We all know I do it. You probably do it, too - not necessarily with Lorelai Gilmore, but with some character in a TV show or movie.
What strikes me is the fact that it's happened... not the questions surrounding the fact. What really strikes me is the knowledge that as long as Mary and I go along with this crazy plan of ours, the phrase "This is such a Lorelai movie" will continue to be uttered.
Any thoughts?
