House Fire Saga Update #7 - June 26, 2019

Update May 2020 - I'm currently going back through my Facebook posts and deciding what I want to leave up for public consumption and what I want to leave private (mostly photos of family that I don't want to leave accessible forever). I thought posting the text of those posts, along with some of the photos I'm okay with leaving public, here on the blog and backdating the posts to the days they went up would be a good alternative. If you've landed here in the midst of a difficult season (that is difficult for no fault of your own), I hope this helps. Leave a comment or send me a message (catpollockwrites @ gmail .com - remove the spaces) if you want someone to talk to, or even just someone to listen. ------------------------ Wednesday, June 26, 2019 - 10:52PM House fire saga update #7: Not much to update today. Today, Mom spent some time going through clothes that family and friends have given (mostly for the kids), while Dad went about his normal routine. To

House Fire Posts from Facebook #1-#3

June 2019 Project Update

Happy Thursday! It's been five months since the last time I posted any updates on life/projects/etc (see January 2019 Project Update if you want to catch up before going further). I'm writing this post while in recovery mode - from being sick, from Vacation Bible School, etc. - so if I sound less than coherent, that's why. I'm also in the middle of a pretty crazy life change, which I'm not quite ready to talk about yet, but will share in the soonest update after everything has settled down. In the meantime, here is where I'm at with all of my projects. Where I'm at with The Switch Series While I had plans to be finished with the second draft of Izzy and the Safari Switch  by this point, the reality is that I'm only about halfway through. I knew the second draft was going to need a heavy hand with the rewrites, but I did not realize how much until I dove into it. Yup, still rockin' the same cover concept as January, too! On the

Spring 2019 Reading Round Up

Happy Thursday! I don't know where all of your reading adventures have taken you in the last few months, but mine  carried me in a direction I was not expecting (in the best way possible). I signed up for the Daily Science Fiction email list, which has delivered some excellent flash fiction to my inbox every week day ever since. As is usually the case, this quarter's reading round up is not a complete list - just the highlights. Links to the last three round ups: Summer 2018 Fall 2018 Winter 2018/19   The list of books I've reviewed in the last three months includes a story with one of the best female main characters I've seen in a while (excepting for Dagger from Zombie Playlist - love you, Dagger) , military science fiction, a lot of time travel, and a dip into the alternative history genre. You can read what exactly what I thought of each of them by clicking on the review links below. Always Gray in Winter  - Mark J. Engels (March) Machine Sens
